As physical therapists, we find out that a high percentage of people with back pain have three common problems or a combination of:
  • poor posture.
  • poor fundamentals and buttocks.
  • weak hip flexibility

How ligaments of evil hip back
Your hip joints travel through an extensive range of motion. There are thick ligaments Y-shaped around the hip joints called iliofemoral ligaments, which provide support. However, with prolonged sitting in the weeks, months or years, these ligaments constrict, reducing the natural movement of the hip joints.

Every time you walk instead of your hips naturally in motion, the ligaments yank and pull the pelvis, which is attached to the spine. It causes inflammation, strain, and pain of the back muscles. Also, the loss of hip movement can even cause the pelvis to tilt, changing the posture of the spine and the increase of the strain. By improving the hip mobility, back pain can usually be relieved quickly enough.

Make sure you have an expert look at your physiotherapist movement when you suffer from back pain. Even if your back can hurt, it can not be the source of your problem. Consult your professional physical therapy to find out how our spine program can determine the cause of your pain, relieve quickly and teach you how to maintain a healthy spine.

Two Simple Physical Theraphy Tests to See if Your Hips are the Cause of Your Back Pain

You can quickly check your hip movement by the following tests. If you discover your hip mobility is limited, or you feel pain or sharp discomfort, it is time to get your hips checked by professional physiotherapy. Try these tests and see how moving your hips are:

1. Hip Mobility Test
  • Lie down on your back with your legs in straight position.
  • Cross one ankle over the other knee.
  • Keep pressed your ankle on the other leg, but now lower the knee up to the side. Is it lower near the earth?
  • Repeat it on the other side and note if there is a difference.
  • If so, this could indicate a problem with movement of the hip and cause pain in the back on that side or even the opposite side.

2. Hip Squatting Test
  • Standing next to a counter for balance and hold steady on.
  • Keep your knees parallel to the front.
  • Squat down as far as you can keep your heels and feet flat on the floor.
  • If you feel a lot of pressure on your knees or calf muscles, you might have a hip movement problem.
  • Try again in front of a mirror. Does your body wants to go to one side? This may indicate a problem with the movement of the hip to one side.
